Jasmine green tea has been popular since the Song Dynasty. Grown on small tea farms are harvested and stored with Jasmine flowers that are picked before dawn, just before the flowers open. The semi-fermented tea has a delicious and refreshing flavor. This process of storing the green tea with Jasmine flowers is repeated up to eight times to ensure an enticing aroma is achieved.
Made from Camellia sinensis leaves and buds before the oxidation process seen with oolong or black teas, green tea originated in China but is now common throughout many Asian countries.
Green tea can be found in several varieties determined by the specifics of Camellia sinensis used, production processes, growing conditions, and harvesting time.
