Welcome to EccentriciTeas (and Coffee!)

“Way too much coffee. But if it weren’t for the coffee, I’d have no identifiable personality whatsoever.”

                                – David Letterman

Living energetically beyond the normal is easier with a great cup of coffee or tea. Light, medium, or dark roast; whole bean or ground by us, we have the coffee you need. If tea is your thing, we have everything from Earl Grey to Formosa Oolong. Or perhaps a bold espresso for the heart of a mocha, cappuccino, or latte? We have it.

Greetings all, I hope this Monday finds you well. I am sharing something now that I’ve been working on since last December. It should not have taken this long, but there was much to learn and many variables to set in place — web design, graphics, product and supplier selection, and still more to come. But the time to share this has come.

Coffee is much more than a warm drink to get you started in the morning. Tea is more than just a relaxing afternoon beverage. Coffee and tea are experiences, journeys, and even nostalgic memories. At EccentriciTeas (and Coffee!), we offer products personally experienced on our own travels around the planet. Many items come with stories about how they were encountered and often a lot more background about the areas and adventures involved.

The vision is a sustainable business that offers a holistic view of living on purpose. If I tell you about Costa Rican, Colombian, or Balinese Coffee, I will also share stories or videos about paragliding and SCUBA diving in these places. It is more than just “selling coffee and tea.” It is a place to share experiences of the places and people encountered where these coffee beans and tea leaves are grown. I’ll share with you all some of the most surprising, enriching, fun, even sometimes bad, memories from these locations around the globe.

Why EccentriciTeas (and Coffee!)?

Speaking of coffee and experiences, the idea for EccentriciTeas (and Coffee!) began when traveling back to the United States from South Korea. One most often travels east on this trip, most often from Seoul, then landing somewhere in the States. I’ve made this trip many times, but most recently, I realized it might be a while before I can do it again, so I decided to do something different. I traveled west and took a month to see a couple of familiar places, but also to see some new ones. Eleven countries in total, if you count where I started and finished, which I admit is something of a cheat. Traveling has long been a passion of mine, and I try to find ways to do it that are a little different. Want to see Bali? Great, while there, let’s launch off a mountain and fly a paraglider over the ocean! Want to see Belize? Cool, let’s sleep in the rainforest with the howler monkeys!

I’ll share the rest of the story in the next update, but I will leave you with this – the most surprising thing about Vietnam for me was the most amazing, interesting, and, shall I say, eccentric cup (glass actually) of coffee I’ve ever had was in Hanoi. Following this with Turkish coffee in Istanbul, and one of life’s most embarrassing moments ordering coffee in Praque, well, this all made for a memorable experience. I look forward to sharing it with you.
